Differences between BS Economics and BS Economics and Mathematics

IBA has launched a new undergraduate program - BS Economics. IBA will continue new admissions in both programs: BS Economics and BS Economics and Mathematics.

The table below highlights the difference between the two programs.

Eligibility for admission

Applicants must have completed at least ONE of the following:

- Higher Secondary School Certificate (any group) with a minimum of 60% marks
- ‘A’ Level with minimum of 1 ‘B’ and 2 ‘C’s in 3 principal subjects
- American High School Diploma Minimum of 80%
- An International Baccalaureate (Minimum 24 / 45)

Mathematical background is NOT mandatory for admission to this program.
Applicants must have completed at least ONE of the following:

- Higher Secondary School Certificate (Pre-engineering OR General Group with Mathematics) with minimum 60% marks
- 'A' Level with minimum 1 'B' and 2 'C's in 3 principal subjects including Mathematics
- American High School Diploma Minimum of 80%
- An International Baccalaureate (Minimum 24 / 45)

Mathematical background IS mandatory for admission to this program.

 

Scores for exemption of the IBA Entry Written Test

SAT I:
600 (out of 800) in Mathematics
600 (out of 800) in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing


ACT:
A Composite Score of 28 (out of 36)
An English / Writing Score of 25 (out of 36)
SAT I:
640 (out of 800) in Mathematics
600 (out of 800) in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing
Scores of Essay are not required for the purposes of admission, however may preferably be submitted for placement in English courses subsequent to admission.

SAT II (Subject test):
650 (out of 800) in Mathematics

ACT:
A Composite Score of 28 (out of 36)
Score of English / Writing is not required for the purposes of admission, however may preferably be submitted for placement in English courses subsequent to admission

 

Course Content and Job Placement

BS (Economics) is a 4-year degree program with major in economics.

The program prepares the students for entry level positions in private and public sectors, development organizations, banks, education sector, and research organizations.

BS (Economics and Mathematics) is a 4-year degree program that contains fundamental components of two fields of study: economics and mathematics.

 

The program prepares the students for entry level positions in private and public sectors, development organizations, banks, insurance companies, investment companies, education sector, and research organizations.
